Osteopathy

YOUR HEALTH IN GOOD HANDS!

OSTEOPATHY

Osteopathy is a manual therapy, based on a diagnosis with its own underlying principles. This therapy enables detecting and treating the affected areas, re-establishing the body's natural ability to cure itself.

It focuses on the fact that the pain and dysfunction we experience originates from changes in the structure and functioning of our body.

Osteopathy acts on muscles, ligaments, nerves, joints and organs, through an extensive range of manipulative techniques, both on soft tissue like the skin and at a structural level on bones.

PAEDIATRIC OSTEOPATHY

WHAT IS IT?

Paediatric Osteopathy is an area of intervention based on the assessment and treatment of children (from 0 to 18 years old) with the key objective being to restore mobility and alignment of the joints, enabling the natural development of the child's body.

Osteopathic action in paediatrics is carried out by means of specific and smooth mobilisations that boost the balance of the tensions in the different tissues (bones, joints, tendons, muscles, membranes covering the muscle and organs) and particularly in the autonomic nervous system.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN CAUSES OF THESE MISALIGNMENTS?

  • Position of the baby in the uterus, especially in the last trimester of pregnancy

  • Caesarean, prolonged labour in childbirth, need to resort to vacuum extraction or forceps

  • Induced labour and/or involving the use of medication

  • Trauma

IN WHICH CASES CAN PAEDIATRIC OSTEOPATHY HELP?

  • Plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome)

  • Torticollis

  • Digestive changes, such as reflux and frequent cramps, vomiting, constipation

  • Irritability

  • Breastfeeding - changes in the baby’s sucking and swallowing

  • Crying for no apparent reason

ARE THE APPLIED TECHNIQUES PAINFUL FOR THE BABY?

The techniques are neither painful nor invasive and the baby's evaluation should be done as early as possible, in order to obtain a better result, following the different stages of the child's development.
